The point of it all

The city has streets that sink into the other side of the world. Amidst their ruins, dead calluses are slowly petrified in the ghosts of shoe soles and former tires. Mediums claim the echoes of former pedestrians weeping for their dislodged joints and lost groceries still thunder in the depths below the stapled smiles of the mayor that shine on every wall above the lunar imitation. Meandering, the life crashes with weary ears and the map just jumps off a window as the former arrow rips off its point, just like this poem written with a prehistoric leg ten powerless knuckles and a fruitless voice.

dear sarah, yesterday I tried to swallow the sun. it burned me up on the inside until even my skin was hot to the touch, and I thought of you. I hope you have found better ways than me to feel lighter. heaven knows there are days where I still trade my feet for concrete blocks and try to sprint to the finish line, but at least I have stopped straying towards the riverbanks. at least I get out of bed. most days, that’s enough. but if you tell me that most days life still feels like a choice you’re making every minute, I will tell you that I understand. Nothing is left of the place - just the blue prints on our palms. (Summer has a way of ending the world.) They say the house burned one August morning - thirty minutes of sparks and God's glory out on the lawn. The neighbors never even noticed and the firemen all slept in that day. We returned in autumn and combed the yard, trying to remember where the living room had been and what color we painted the kitchen, reminders in the ashes - knots of cat fur where the steps had been told us what we pretended not to know - That leaving is a scathing loss. Her Gaze

The way her eyes touch me makes me shiver; her eyes oh her soft, gentle, warm glowing eyes. Beautiful, comforting , addicting are the only mere mortal words to which I can describe her eyes. How she wraps me in love just by her gaze is truly a mystery but I enjoy every moment of her tender embrace.
